To everyone else in Lou- isville, Assumption High School is just another school. To its students, Assumption is a home - a home that challenges students intellec- tually, encourages individu- ality, and teaches the power of a community rooted in love. A home I already miss. I didn't get to live through the last three months of se- nior year the way I envi- sioned. Ironically, amidst a global pandemic, when I haven't been to the building in over a month, my love for Assumption has grown stron- ger. While it is upsetting that my last few weeks have been abruptly cut short, it has given me time to reflect on the past four years. I entered Assumption freshman year timid and in- secure. I am exiting confi- dent in myself as a leader, student, and friend. I am the woman I am today because I was able to grow with the support of the Assumption community. Assumption nourishes the minds of its students by pushing the boundaries of education. As a student at Assumption, I have been able to explore my subjects of interest, curate my own opinions, spark a passion for learning about other cul- tures, and dive into chal- lenging issues. The teachers at Assumption share their passion for learning, fueling creativity and productivity within the classroom. Assumption is also a school that focuses on edu- cation beyond the textbooks, educating the mind, body, and spirit. The importance of self-love and discovering inner spirituality is empha- sized throughout all four years. These themes are de- veloped with the guidance of incredible faculty and upper- classwomen, creating a safe environment for young wom- en to discover their worth. When contemplating "why I love my school," I realized there isn't only one reason. When I think of my love for Assumption, I am over- whelmed with a plethora of memories and emotions. The relief when the senior sit- ting behind me on my first day started talking to me. The support when I stood in front of my class and asked them to vote for me as class officer. The compassion of an entire community dur- ing times of great loss. The collective excitement that electrifies the gym during pep rallies. The fierce loyalty that floods the stands. The pride that engulfed our class as we slipped on our class rings for the first time. The eagerness of beginning my last year ready to experience it all one last time. Despite the events I'm missing, I am grateful for the experiences I did get over the past four years. I have realized how unique it is to have a faculty and staff that care for its students as deeply as the people at Assump- tion. Even though we are not physically together experi- encing our last senior events, I still feel connected to the community of Assumption. They are working diligently to make this new system feel as normal as possible. I con- sider myself lucky to be able to go through this as an As- sumption student. The com- munity of Assumption makes it easy to find some light in the darkness. Assumption High School has taught me to embrace my passions, explore my faith, challenge the status quo, and make my mark on the world. It is a home that has left me with a mind hungry for knowledge, a belly sore from laughing, and a heart swollen with love. A home that I wish I didn't have to leave so early, but I will carry with me through life. It has shaped me and so many oth- ers into women who know we have dignity and worth and what we do makes a dif- ference.

Holy Cross High is 'family'
Before entering high school, many people told me that it is the fastest four years of your life and man, they were right. High school is about having fun, being involved, growing as a per- son, and all while learning and growing one's education. Holy Cross High School ex- ceeded all my expectations. Holy Cross is and will for- ever have a place in my life. At Holy Cross, I have had more life experiences, more real world learning, and met some of the finest people I will ever meet. Holy Cross is a small, co- ed, Catholic high school. Be- cause we are a small environ- ment with a family-like atmo- sphere, we can be connected with our community like nobody else. Holy Cross is more of a second home than a school. People actually spend more time at Holy Cross than at their actual home. I am one of those people. I am involved in many clubs, sports teams, and organiza- tions at Holy Cross because the school allows students to find and discover their interests. When being a part of these extracurricular ac- tivities, students gain valu- able experience about how to interact and work with people in our community en- vironment. We create a bond that cannot be broken within our sports teams, clubs, and organizations. As soon as you walk through the doors at Holy Cross you see and feel how much of a family we are. The amount of support given from everyone at the school and community is unmatched. From donations to sport- ing events, the alumni, students, and teachers are always there to help. The teachers and staff care so much for all the students and cheer for them to succeed as a student, athlete, and as a person. The students and staff have a genuine connec- tion with one another. The friendships that are made at Holy Cross will last a life- time. I will never forget the connections I have made with my friends and how they have impacted me. I believe that Holy Cross has helped me make these connections and create a family. Holy Cross has also given me a once in a lifetime op- portunity. Our Internship program gives me the oppor- tunity to work for and make connections in the real world, face to face. I was able to find a career that interest me in high school and have already made connections in my field of interest. My supervisors have given me advice about how to navi- gate the real world and have set me up to succeed. The best part of the program is being able to learn outside of the classroom and have a brand-new experience. At Holy Cross, we call this real learning with real people in real life and nobody in the state can match this. Holy Cross has truly made me into the person I am today. All the memories with my school and fam- ily will never be forgotten. Often, I feel that God has put me into this place for a reason and has given me a second family to rely on, if ever needed. I love Holy Cross with all my heart and I will never forget how spe- cial Holy Cross is. And as always, Go Cougs!
